Workshops & Landscape Photography Holidays 2010

2010 Landscape Photography Workshops in Northern Britain.

2010 Landscape Photography Workshops in Northern Britain.

Whether its the Yorkshire Dales, The North York Moors, the stunning Yorkshire coast, the Lake District or Scotland, work alongside John and share his passion for landscape photography. John has an intimate knowledge of these regions throughout the seasons, and will take you to several scenic locations where you will receive his individual attention.
Benefit from positive analysis of, and feedback on any photographic prints you care to bring along.
Workshops typically start at first light, and usually run until the sun goes down.

DATES: Throughout 2009/10 Weekends and Mid-Week days are available.
TIMES: Start times to be arranged according to the season, and stay out until the sun sets.
MEET: At a pre-arranged starting point, from where transport can be provided for UP TO FOUR PEOPLE.

If you are new to photography, or wish to develop your skills further, using either film or digital, John's wealth of experience will ensure that you quickly begin to understand how to use the most important functions of your camera, and the essential techniques needed to create more dramatic images. You will learn how to set up your equipment, check and control exposure, adjust depth of field and use landscape filters creatively.
If you have never used a digital SLR camera and have booked a one-to-one workshop then use of a Canon 20D is included.
If you are particularly interested in learning how to shoot digital panoramic images, use of a Pano Bracket is available, and John will show you other methods used to create panoramics which are later stitched together in the computer.

FEEDBACK AND IMAGES CREATED BY CLIENTS

FEEDBACK AND IMAGES CREATED BY CLIENTS

SHAUN CONWAY - SHERIFF HUTTON - 2009
Hi John
I hope you’re well. I just want to express my sincere thanks for a wonderful day that I spent with you last Sunday. The various hints and tips you provide will prove invaluable for my development in photography. I shall be investing in both a polarizer and a panorama head for a tripod – it’s amazing what can be achieved with the addition of the right technology coupled with expert guidance. I have played with a few images since last weekend and I wanted to send you some of the results I’ve achieved. I have to say, I’m pretty pleased with some of the results. Staithes looks good but blimey, I’m still getting flash backs whilst standing on top of Cowbar Nab!!
Your advice regarding using the square format is a revelation – it really does bring a different aspect to the images. I have used it on a couple of images that I attach. It is and approach I’ll be using in the future – very interesting. If you’re ever passing through Sheriff Hutton or want to take a little bit of time out hunting around the village with your camera I’d be happy to show you the sights (including the pub!).
Aside from the photography from last weekend, I have a collection of my photos on my website – this can be viewed at www.shaunconway.com – thanks again for all your help and I look forward to meeting you in the future.
Best regards
Shaun

NIGEL JESSOP - DEWSBURY
I just wanted to say thank you for a very pleasant couple of days. I was still stiff two days later, but it was very rewarding, and I don't think I forgot anything!!! Thanks again Nigel.

PAULA JENKINS - CLECKHEATON
Hi John, I just wanted to say thanks for a great day on Monday. I only managed a quick peek at my pictures yesterday but was very pleased with what I saw. Can't wait to get started with Photoshop! I'm already planning my next excursion. Thanks again, Paula.

CAROL HAMPTON - NOTTIGHAM
I wanted to say how much I enjoyed the day yesterday, I learnt a lot - fucussing the near ground, then turning off the Auto Focus, bracketing to get the best exposure, using ND filters and the polariser filter, and using a hood or standing to the side to prevent glare. Not to mention the tripod and spirit level, all in all a great help to me to improve my pictures.
I thought your exhibition was superb. I loved the locations you took us to. Thanks also for the book I have already enjoyed the super photos of the Dales.
Best Wishes Carol.

John,

A slightly belated note to say how much we enjoyed and benefited from our recent 2 day course. The weather and scenery was perfect in the Dales and York was fascinating on the Tuesday morning. Your tuition was great on both days and we have come home with a much better understanding of what we can do. We are also now proud owners of a reasonable tripod and Photoshop Elements 5. We are 'dabbling' with both and slowly improving. We hope your break in Northumberland was a success.

Thankyou again

Best Regards

Elaine & Terry Dudeney

Garry and Andrea McDonald from Solihull - Lake District Workshop - 26th October 2008
Hi John
I hope you are well and that you had a safe journey back from the lakes.
Garry and I really enjoyed the workshop. Garry spent all day yesterday sorting out his pictures etc. I would like to continue his re-ignited passion for photography by booking a further session with you.

WENSLEYDALE ONE TO ONE WORKSHOP APRIL 11TH 2009
John
Just a quick note to thank you for an excellent day on Saturday. The weather was kind to us and ideal for photography. It was good just to listen to you and pick up no end of tips on composition, exposures, how to use grad filters properly and in the words of David Noton, how to wait for the light.
Your insight into Photoshop was superb and having scribbled a few notes I didn't forget any of it. I have already played with layers, the polygonal lasso, cloning, feathering and layers to create some good final images of Castle Bolton.
I was wide awake at 7 AM yesterday and wandered down to the falls where I got some lovely shots. I was late for breakfast because the sun had moved by 8:45 to highlight most of the upper falls and I just had to take some more!
Thanks again John, not only for the tuition but also for chauffeuring me around all day
Garry
