Welcome to my web site, I am a professional landscape photographer, author and teacher, based in the beautiful historic city of York, North Yorkshire, England. My life changed the day I made my first black and white print way back in 1983, and since that moment I have combined my love of the countryside with my passion for Landscape Photography to create images of the natural world. I am ideally placed here in York, having two glorious National Parks, and the dramatic Yorkshire Coast on my doorstep.
I run Photographic Workshops and organise Viewfinder Photography Holidays in Northern Britain, and during term time I teach evening classes of Digital Photography and Photoshop on Wednesdays at York High School.
One to one, or in small groups. John can tailor courses for all abilities, and now also incorporates short sessions during landscape workshops, working from his mobile home using a flat screen and laptop. This is proving to be very popular with those who request it. Johns new beginners workshops based in York have a Photoshop session after lunch at Grey's Court, which again is being very well received.

I have been invited to stage the first exhibition at this wonderful new venue. Dutch house opened on May 1st 2010 and is an amazing new North Yorkshire attraction, located just outside the beautiful hill top village of Crayke. More details to follow shortly.

EXHIBITION WORKSHOP - Sunday 12th September.
I will be running a special exhibition Digital Photography Workshop for beginners.
We will spend the afternoon at Dutch house and then drive up to Sutton Bank to photograph the fabulous views and hopefully a nice sunset.
The workshop is limited to 6 photographers and includes tea/coffee on arrival at 1.00pm, afternoon tea/light meal at 5.00pm, and 10 of John's blank greeting card range.
The cost is £95 per person, and does not include personal or equipment insurance.

HOURLY and DAILY RATES
I can offer private tuition for both photography and Adobe Photoshop training. My hourly rate is £35 per hour in the York area.
Commissioned Landscape, Architectural and Commercial Photography - Daily rate £450 in this region, plus expenses for travelling
outside the York area.

Images on this site are available for calendars, books, magazines, advertising and web design etc., and can be purchased as high resolution light fast digital fine art prints, and Giclee fine art Canvas prints. High resolution digital images are available on disk also.
FINE ART PRINT SALES
John produces original fine art images for Media, Publishing, Interior Design, Commercial Interiors, Businesses, Individuals, Exhibitions and Commissions. If you are seeking striking and unique images to enhance your rooms or projects then sets of original images can be created to suit your needs.
John produces fine art prints from Hahnemuhle and Photospeed Fine Art papers which have an archival quality of museum standard and are acid free for longevity, and the Canvas prints are made from 100% pure cotton artist canvas with added protection from a Matt UV varnish. A Giclee printing process is employed using the very latest Ultrachrome K3 inkset for archival longevity. Canvas prints are wrapped around a deep 1 1/2 inch {38mm) softwood frame and come ready to hang. All prints are signed and dated.
Signed Prints can be supplied in strong postal tubes, or in window mounts ready to frame.
John's A3 mounted prints are held in a single window mount. His A2 mounted prints are held in a double window mount. All materials are acid free.
Fine Art Prints are available in the following sizes, and the actual image size varies a little according to format. All prints will have a narrow border to allow for suspending behind a window mount prior to framing.
A3 Print 30 cm x 42 cm (approx. 11.5 in x 16.5 in) - mount size 40 cm x 50 cm (approx. 15.75 in x 19.75 in).
A2 Print 42 cm x 59 cm (approx. 16.5 in x 23 in) - mount size 50 cm x 70 cm (approx. 19.75 in x 27.5 in).
